Featured Images

—  Learn everything about featured images. This is the image that will be shown by viewing the page.

When an overview of blog articles, products, portfolios or even pages is displayed in an overview, the image that you set is displayed as a featured image.

Tips 'n tricks

By adding a featured image the site gets a more personal touch. The featured image will be displayed as the first picture of the page. This image may differ from the first photo that is visible on that page.


Categories

Categories

—  Learn everything about categories. Here you can add a category to a page, a blog, a portfolio or a product.

By assigning one or more categories you can subsequently sort the pages by category.

Add categories and tags so customers visites the site more often.
When you are not sure about the portfolio post, save it as a draft for later.


Page Options

—  Learn everything about page options. Here you can determine all page options.

General
Here you can adjust the background and the width of the page. If you don’t select anything here, the default settings of the theme options will be used.

HTML Body Background
Specify the HTML body background color and media. The background is visible if you have Content > Background Color set to transparent or a Boxed layout.

Page Width
Override the global site width value.

Menu
Here you can adjust the width, transparency and shadow of the menu. If you don’t select anything here, the default settings of the theme options will be used.

Menu
Override the menu.

Menu Width
Override the menu width.

Remove Transparency
Override to remove the transparency eventually declared in ‘Customize -> Light/Dark skin’.

Remove Shadow
Override to remove the shadow eventually declared in ‘Menu -> Visuals’.

Header
Here you can adjust the header of the page. To add a full-width image by selecting a content block or by selecting the basic header type. Then set an image as background media. You can choose 4 types as header. If the inherit option is chosen, the settings that are set for theme options -> single page, post, etc will be adopted. If you choose the option basic you can add 1 background image by pressing background -> add.
If you choose content block type, you can select a content block with many more options than just a screen filling image. An example of this is a slideshow with changing photos where text is displayed.

Content
Here you can change the properties of the section between and below the header and above the footer.

Sidebar
Here you can enable a sidebar. This option is mainly used for blogs and shops.

Footer
Here you can overwrite the footer that you have set in the theme options with a footer that should only be displayed on this page.

Scroll
Here you can enable the options for the scroll functionality that replaces the standard scroll function.

Media

Media

—  Learn everything about media. Here you can add images to a page without using the page builder.

This only applies to portfolio projects, products or blog articles.

The addition of multimedia files such as videos, images and flash will help you to improve the visual aspect of your site but it will also give your users more benefit from your pages and give them a more pleasant experience thus keeping them on the site for a longer period.


Discussions and comments

In the discussions tab, you can determine if comments may or may not be allowed. In the comment tab, comments or reviews can be added or removed. This is especially applicable to products and blog articles.

Comment section can be a good source of feedback from public users. Sometimes you get nice ideas and suggestions for free. Comment section also provides interactive use of your system instead of normal static pages.

In the first tab: SEO. You can view a google preview how your title and meta will be displayed in google search. To edit your preview, you can click on the “edit meta” button. 4 text boxes appear. Here you can enter an SEO title, description and keywords to adjust the google search views of this page.

At the bottom you can choose tags as keywords. If you enable this option, the tags you have given to a page, post or product will also be passed on to google search.

Finally, you have SEO Analysis. If you enter a focus keyword, Smartcrawl will check your page for search optimization and you will receive some recommendations.

The second tab readability gives you tips about the readability of your page.

Social gives you the option to set a specific title and description for social media.

 

In the advanced tab you can turn off the page visibility for google search and set other advanced options.

The advantage of a separate title and description for social media is that you can also select featured image (images that will be displayed if a visitor chooses to share your post or page).


The Page Builder

The page builder

—  Learn everything about the page builder. The page builder is the center of Popeye Cloud. Here you can add or edit elements to a page such as text, photos, slideshows, etc.

The page builder works with a maximum of 12 columns. Each row and each column has its own properties. To build more complex pages, you can also put a row in a column.

Use heading elements instead of text blocks. Heading elements has more properties.

—  Learn everything about the classic mode vs backend editor. This is the section where you build the page.

This option should always be on backend editor (this means that the classic mode button always have to be visible.) The backend editor automatically displays the page builder where we will build our page.

Tips 'n tricks

By building the page, you always have to choose 'row'. In this row you can put every other element that is displayed in the backend editor.


Permalink

Permalink

—  Learn everything about the permalink. This is the link to the page. It consists of the domain name of the website, followed by a page attribute in which the page is located and the name of the page.

To determine where the page is located, you can select a page attribute on the right side including the page you want to view.

To change the name of the page, you can click on edit and add a new name.  Press OK.

Please note for the index page, you can set up no other name. This consists only of the domain name. Press OK

Tips 'n tricks

Choose the same permalink as the name of the page. Don't forget to press 'OK'.


Page Title

—  Learn everything about the page title. The page title is the name of the page you create.

We are now going to build up the page you have created in step 2.
Pages -> all pages -> click edit on the page of your choice. Now you can start building the page.

 

Here you can enter the page title. On the right bottom, you can see how many characters are still available. The ideal number of characters for a title is 70.
